Self Improvement:  9 Steps to a New You Fall is quickly approaching. Sad, but true. Soon the days of lazily lounging on patios will be far behind us. Instead, we’ll be cooped up in our offices, noses back to those grindstones. But don’t despair! There are ways to prepare for the end of summer, and the months ahead. Book a holiday in October. Spend too much on a new fall wardrobe. Or pamper yourself silly. Our intrepid reporter agreed to undergo hours of spa therapy (!) and describe the effectiveness of each treatment. Herewith, our self-improvement guide, which includes among other things, ear candling, a body scrub and colon cleansing. (Hey, we never said this would be easy.)

Sachiko wears rubber gloves and a rubber apron. I wear a disposable thong. Face-down on an orange plastic treatment table, I am washed, scrubbed with peppermint and green tea leaves, hosed down and moisturized from head to toe. The body scrub follows Body Blitz’s famous detoxifying water circuit, which involves moving between a Dead Sea salt pool, aromatherapy steam room, green tea bath and infrared sauna-each punctuated by dips in an icy-cold plunging pool. I leave soft, totally relaxed and wondering what second job I should take to finance what is sure to become my new Body Blitz habit.
