Body Blitz Spatastic!
How does a hot pool of Japanese Green tea sound, followed up with a vibrant glass of antioxidant-rich fruit juice and a sauna or two? Follow me to a heavenly experience!
For those looking to recharge during the holiday madness, look no further than the Body Blitz Spa to unwind and soak your worries away. Women in Europe and Asia have been "taking the waters" for centuries in their quest to detoxify, relax and promote well-being. Sleek, impeccably clean (I mean spotless folks), and wonderfully welcoming, the Body Blitz Spa- Toronto抯 own women only spa, offers various pools and saunas that will leave you revived and looking dazzling for the onslaught of Christmas functions. Starting in the spa's Warm Dead Sea Salt Pool, the goal is to relax in the briny waters as hydrotherapy jets work out the kinks and mini-waterfalls in the centre of the pool placidly gurgle. Got aches and pains? This is the place for you to soak them away! Serene earth tones, natural rock and vibrant hits of red encircle the large salt pool, cocooning you in peaceful bliss.
Ten minutes in the salty waters do the trick, and just as I'm hitting the half-way mark, one of the friendly staff walks in with my antioxidant drink order. Hey, I figure if I'm here to detoxify, I'm going all the way baby! My fantastic fruit cocktail was heavy on the antioxidant rich blueberry juice as well as a shot of Nutrimoor - nutrient rich moor water from the Golden Moore Bog in Casselman, Ontario. It's said this is a high quality, rare moor that has miraculously not been tampered with or contaminated by pollutants (it's even preserved by Canadian law!). The moor water is extracted during the winter months at a depth of 5-15 metres under the frozen surface and is filtered in sterile laboratory conditions- leaving you with therapeutic water that's said to provide another shot of antioxidants, immune- boosters and all round good nutrients for our urban-polluted bodies.
As I sipped away on my garnet and purple libation, I interspersed dips (and I mean dips) into the Cold Plunging Pool to tighten the pores and keep body rate and temperature at healthy levels. I felt like a bottle of wine in one of those insta-chill machines- bracing but once you've dipped, you feel ALIVE! An Aromatherapy Steam Room infused with eucalyptus oil is the perfect way to increase your circulation, relieve rheumatic pains and cleanse the skin. White marble and state of the art steam equipment provide 100% humidity- it's better than a summer in Vietnam! A shower rinse after the steam was followed by a trip to the Infrared Sauna. This new generation of saunas is said to provoke a sweating effect 3 times superior to traditional saunas - getting to the core of toxins lodged in the body.
Another frosty plunge into chilly waters and I finished off the water circuit with 10 minutes in the Hot Green Tea Pool. Not for drinking- but for luxuriating in- this pool is infused with Japanese Green tea daily and is noted for stimulating the immune system. Refreshed and relaxed, a Body Blitz specialist named Ann escorted me to a treatment room where I indulged in the Spa Sampler. Ann started by having me lay tummy-down on a padded table as she proceeded to scrub me down with the spa signature Mint-Lime Body Wash (fresh and wonderful) using Body Blitz Scrub mitts. A warm hose down and then she got to work with the designated scrub I had picked upon arrival. I chose the Mint-Lime Sea Salt Scrub and let Ann exfoliate any and all rough patches away. Sea salt combined with sunflower and safflower seed oils, as well as grape seed oil left me as smooth as I've EVER been- just like buttah! Everything from your neck, toes, back, tummy, and yes, even buttocks (leave your modesty at home ladies!) gets scrubbed and expertly smoothened out. A quick shower and a Citrus Mint Shampoo later, and I was ready to face the world.
My husband remarked I look well rested- glowing even. All I said was "Christmas is coming up and the Body Blitz Spa offers gift certs," taking my cue from a savvy husband who was in when I was buying some Citrus Mint Conditioner (I'll be back for the shampoo later). He smiled and said "I hear you." I hope so!
