Urban Oasis
Although it draws inspiration form the centuries-old traditions of Asian and European bathhouses, Toronto's Body Blitz Spa tempts weary women with a truly modern concept - a downtown water spa. Housed in a 10,000-square-foot space in a historical building on Adelaide Street West, the spa features minimal-chic dècor, with exposed bricks and beams and heated cement floors. And, true to the rhythm of contemporary lifestyles, thirty percent of appointments are reserved for same-day clients. The treatments are time-tested: a thirty-eight-foot-long warm Breton sea salt pool, heated to 98 degrees, helps alleviate cramps and muscle aches. The hot green tea pool, heated to 102 degrees, stimulates blood circulation. Besides the reward of a cool-off dip in the cold plunging pool (kept at 65 degrees), Body Blitz boasts an infrared sauna and a range of popular services based on its own customized product line. Top off your body mud or body scrub (warning: there's a lot of nudity here) at the juice bar, which created in consultation with Juice For Life and Fresh restaurants. Services start at $35. A one-year membership is $1,400 (a special $1,200 holiday price is offered until December 24). - Natalie Aston, FQ Magazine - Holiday 2005
